My Students
My students are curious. They read and write every day, analyzing and exploring a variety of texts. In my classroom, they gather knowledge from non-fiction articles and wisdom from their independent reading novels. On any given day, a student may share these tidbits with me: the thrill of ending a good book, the discovery of a new graphic novel, or perhaps the acquisition of a new fact that expanded their understanding of the world.
We must continue to feed their curiosity by providing a wide variety of fiction and non-fiction texts, as my students are hungry for new reading choices.
They read every day, at home and at school, exhausting our classroom library. Please help them step into new worlds, meet new characters, and experience new plots and themes.
My Project
Many of the books on this list are recommended by experts in the field of young adult literature, but most importantly, students have recommended these titles. These young people are eager to read; we just need your help in bringing the books to their hands.
With these new options, our class can expand our knowledge, experience new stories, and grow as readers as we finish the school year together.
As a bonus, these books also have a great shelf life. Please forgive the pun. As we end this year and begin another, students can enjoy the books that their peers have previously read.
