This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our classroom is a powerful venue for exploration, information gathering, understanding, creativity, expression, and celebration. The students in this classroom, and their families, have come to us from all corners of the globe. The students love to learn about others and share their own cultural customs and traditions.

Your donation to this project will help these young students embark on a cultural examination that will help them learn about and explore the customs and traditions of the Lunar New Year.

After reading the Holiday Book for Kids--Celebrating Chinese New Year: History, Traditions, and Activities, students will use construction paper to create paper lanterns and red envelopes which they will decorate with glitter. We will use the ink to print patterns so they can construct paper chain snakes which they will paint with the textured art tools for the year of the snake Lunar New Year celebration. Students will wear their Lunar New Year glasses, create glitter fireworks, and exchange red envelopes to experience the fun of participating in some of the Lunar New Year Customs and Traditions they have learned about.
