I have the honor of teaching 15 high energy students with learning disabilities. They learn differently and do better with hands on lessons. We use the Smart board in our room and give them a chance to get up and move around.
My Project
My students struggle with reading. They are way behind their peers. Part of the problem is they don't always like to practice. They have to be taught to find a book that they can read at an independent level. My students have a library but they do not have a cozy, inviting space to read. I wish to develop that space with these materials.
The cozy space will be in the back of my classroom by my library.
I hope to put the table and chairs next to the library so they will want to go there to explore. Children love special, inviting spaces to read. Everyday they will see that space and wish to utilize it with the low table and four colorful chairs. With your help, I will be able to interest my less than enthusiastic readers into coming to the library daily to pick out books that are at their level to read!
