My Project

My 6th-grade Language Arts classroom is a vibrant space where young minds are developing a lifelong love of reading. A cornerstone of my teaching philosophy is providing students with opportunities for independent reading and, critically, the power of choice in what they read. These elements are not just academic strategies; they are essential in fostering genuine enjoyment and engagement with literature. In the classrooms current state, students will primarily read at their desks. While this serves its purpose, I believe together we can elevate the reading experience to new heights! I envision a classroom where students have access to a variety of comfortable, inviting spaces where they can truly immerse themselves in a book.

With your generous support, I aim to create a "cozy reading oasis" in our classroom.

I am requesting just under $700 for a set of comfy, durable bean bag chairs and a soft, inviting reading carpet. Imagine our 6th graders sinking into a bean bag, book in hand, or spreading out on a plush carpet, lost in a captivating story! Beyond simply providing comfortable seating, these additions will significantly impact my students in several profound ways:

Increased Engagement: Offering unique, inviting spaces within the classroom allows students to select a reading "nook" that best suits their individual personality and learning style. This choice in environment directly increases their engagement in the reading process.

Fostering a Love of Reading: When reading becomes an enjoyable, comfortable, and personalized experience, students develop a genuine passion for it. These cozy spots will transform independent reading time into a much-anticipated part of their day.

Versatility for Years: These high-quality bean bag chairs and durable reading carpet are an investment that will benefit countless 6th-grade students for years to come, creating a legacy of literacy and comfort in our classroom.
