My Project

I teach second grade to a class of brilliant students in New York City. Many of my students are English language learners and children with special needs. Most qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.

All of my students are creative, thoughtful, and eager learners, and much of their knowledge this year has been expressed through their literacy and play.

Do you want to help to instill a lifelong love of reading and a passion for books in children? Well, it's one of the reasons that I went into teaching!

And now twenty years later, I am amazed at how excited my students are when we learn about new authors or when I have new books to add to our library.

You could be a part of that excitement! With your generous donation, my students will enjoy reading in a comfy, cozy reading nook in our school. We have an incredible reading space but it has no furniture. Unfortunately, my students do not always have a quiet, comfortable spot to read at home. I would love to create a reading nook in my classroom so that they will be more motivated to read. My students need beautiful new book shelves for their new reading nook! These items will help to make class reading more fun and make students look forward to opening a book in such a neat environment.
