Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have an amazing group of second grade students who are eager to improve their reading. Most of them come from low income families who can't afford to buy books for their children. My student struggle with reading, but they love to hold a book in their hands. According to a reading questionnaire that I used in the beginning of the school year, I found out that my students enjoy reading in a "cozy place full of pillows and stuffed animals."
My Project
The flexible seating materials will be placed in my classroom library. I have a group of very respectful students who will take good care of all the materials donated to our class. One of the literacy stations in my classroom is independent reading. With these great flexible seating resources, my students will enjoy a cozy place to read. By providing my students a cozy and comfortable place to read I am also encouraging them use my classroom library and enjoy their reading. Adding the flexible seating materials to my classroom library will make independent reading a successful learning experience for my students.
