My Project
This year, I am excited to welcome 34 students into my home room classroom, where I work to create a safe, calm, and loving environment. Many of my students come from low-income households, and for some, school is their safe space where they feel valued, loved, and supported. I believe that fostering a sense of community and trust is key to helping my students succeed—not only academically, but emotionally and socially.
One of the most important parts of our day is carpet time—a time when we gather together as a class to connect, share, and engage in learning activities.
During this time, I can check in with my students, listen to their stories, and learn more about who they are. This daily routine is not only vital for academic learning, but also for building the trust and sense of belonging that makes my classroom a place where every student feels welcome.
However, my current classroom rug is too small for all of my students to sit comfortably together. As a result, many students are left standing or sitting uncomfortably, which detracts from the special moments of our time together.
With your generous support, I would love to replace our old rug with a larger, more functional one that can comfortably accommodate all 34 students. A new, bigger rug will give my students the space they need to gather, share, and learn together, making our carpet time more effective and meaningful.
I am confident that with a new rug, my students will feel more at home in our classroom. Your donation will directly help create a positive, inviting space where they can feel loved, heard, and ready to learn every day.
