Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Every day I look out into a sea of eager, inquisitive faces and say, "Good Morning. boys and girls." My twenty-two amazing, third graders attend a community public school and reside in a high poverty area located in Bronx, NY. In school, they are learning to have a growth mindset and to learn how to live with empathy, flexibility, resilence, persistence and optimism.
School is their "home" and they come every day.
With the challenges they face, they enjoy reading chapter books, writing poetry and learning about science. They also love to build things and participate in art activities.
My Project
In creating a classroom of lifelong readers, I take pride in creating a library/reading/meeting area that is cozy and inviting. I would love to have a couch and chair for the students to read on as well as listen to books. I believe that creating this comfortable atmosphere will get students to read even more.
Its important for me to create a warm, cozy, inviting atmosphere in my classroom.
Students use the library as a reading area as well as a meeting area for morning meetings and whole group learning. Having a couch and chair will make students motivated to learn and participate in learning experiences.
I want to promote reading and increase reading practice. Having a library which is comfortable and cozy will allow my students to want to read as well as read more.
