A Cozy Library Corner for Curious Minds

Help me give my students comfortable, inviting library furniture that encourages a love for reading and provides a cozy space for independent learning.

My Project

My 2nd-grade students are enthusiastic, imaginative readers who crave a quiet, comfortable place to dive into books. However, our classroom library currently lacks the furniture and structure needed to make it a true reading haven. We are in need of soft seating, sturdy bookcases, and a calming rug to define the space and make it more welcoming.

Many of my students come from low-income households and do not have access to a wide selection of books or comfortable reading areas at home.

I want our library to be a safe, cozy place where students can fall in love with reading and build critical literacy skills.

With new furniture, I can better organize our growing collection of books and offer flexible, student-friendly seating that invites curiosity, focus, and joy.

Creating a cozy reading corner in our classroom will:

Make reading feel like a special and relaxing experience

Give students ownership of a beautiful, functional space

Encourage more time spent reading for pleasure and learning

Support students’ focus, attention, and emotional regulation

Comfortable, well-organized spaces help students feel valued and invested in their learning. Your support will turn our little classroom library into a literacy-rich sanctuary.

A clean classroom is a welcoming classroom—especially in a space like our library corner where students are reading on rugs, cushions, or bean bags. A cordless vacuum will help me maintain a tidy, allergen-free reading area so students can comfortably sit, stretch out, and focus on their books without distraction.

By keeping our reading nook clean and comfortable, the vacuum directly supports student well-being and protects the investment in our new furniture and rug.
