This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My 2nd grade students love to read chapter books in our classroom library. We are in need of a nice cozy carpet to read on. Our current carpet is small and only 3 students fit on the carpet. It is my wish to have 5 students visit the classroom library everyday with enough space to fit comfortably.

Having the carpet would provided my 2nd grades with a quiet and comfortable place for reading books away from center work and guided reading areas of the classroom.

It is difficult for me as a primary teacher to have to limit the amount of students who visit the classroom library due the size of the current carpet in the classroom. I would love to see more students interested in reading chapter books on their own and this carpet will provide a much needed cozy space for my students to enjoy reading without the worry of overcrowding or not enough leg room. The carpet will provide them with the space to read and feel connected to each other as readers of chapter books.

I believe it is important to have a space where students can explore and read on their own and have a nice cozy and inviting area in which to do so. In providing this carpet for my students they will understand the importance of having time to be alone with a book they love surrounded by a special place to read a book. Making our classroom library a fun, warm and inviting area to read and to be able to investigate new books with friends. To be able to read and have space in a lovely place with friends is a wonderful addition to any classroom. I know that this carpet will provide days of reading fun, and adventure to all.
