My Project

My students are a fun and exciting bunch. They love to learn, laugh and work together. What makes them the most special is their personality. Each one of them bring so many experiences to our classroom to create our own community. I love each and every one of them and want the very best learning environment for them.

This year, we are focusing on social emotional learning and how to self regulate.

I want to create a welcoming and calm space where students are able to relax, think, and talk through choices they make. This space will be used for students during class and sometimes at lunch (know as "lunch bunch"). Materials such as comfortable chairs, calming music and a peaceful art will allow for students to take the time they need to reflect and calm down. The space we currently have is a bit too much and doesn't create the space needed for a good reset. The credenza will be used as storage, as this space does not have much cabinet space to store items. We will utilize organizers to organize tools that are needed for special occasions. We will use a microwave to heat any lunches up when lunch bunches are in the classroom so that the teacher can join us for this special time.

I know that the more my students are utilizing a space where they are able to take time to connect, reflect and calm down, the more they are able to use their energy to learn more and be more successful. Materials like these will help my students be the best version of themselves.
