In our kindergarten classroom, most of our learning is collaborative and takes place on the rug. It is the center of our classroom and helps to foster so many important skills that help to build our classroom community. My students are desperately in need of a new rug. We will use this rug during our morning meeting, yoga, social emotional learning time, literacy instruction, math instruction, restorative circles, and at various other parts of our day.
A new rug will help my students with social skills and fostering connections with each other.
Our current rug is several years old, has been well 'loved' and does not allow for all students to sit together. My students often feel squished, which requires some to sit in chairs off the rug. We like to sit in a circle during lessons and when engaging in discussions. The rug we have now, does not allow for that. My students deserve a comfortable place to learn and have fun. I know that a new rug will help brighten up the classroom for our new group of kindergartners!
