Help me give my students distance learning through a working computer. This MacBook Air will be an incredible resource in meeting the needs of my 114 students through online lessons and allows me creative ways to interact.
My kindergarten class and 5th grade science students are a unique combination of diverse, urban, and rural, motivated learners. My students come from a very tight-knit town of ranches, farmlands, and a city with a courthouse, county hospital, and a jail. The Martinez community has a rich history going back to the home of John Muir and my school has several generations of students and staff running through it's veins. Since the pandemic, I have been teaching through my own YouTube videos and Zoom sessions weekly. My current computer is very slow and outdated and my students and their families are depending on my daily lessons, check ins, and face to face communication as relationships are most important in my community.
My Project
Distance Learning may be a new way to teach for an unknown amount of time. I am definitely learning a lot about the capabilities of technology during this time, and unfortunately have found the limitations in my own resources.
Zoom, and Google Meets have become my classroom!
I have also been creating movies to teach important concepts that will allow my students the opportunity to revisit important concepts. Technology is crucial during this time and without a consistently working computer I am limited in my ability to serve my students.
This computer will be used daily- in fact- all day- to brainstorm, conduct meetings, write, create fun lessons for awesome kids.
