Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Students in my school site are curious, hard workers, and creative. With the drastic change of remote teaching, I have seen so many of my students struggle with the content but yet have shown resilience. Sometimes we meet up on zoom conferences at off school hours in small groups to work together and make sense of the curriculum.
I am pleased to see my students continued to show an interest in learning even though the world around them has been flipped upside down.
My students continue to engage in the lessons and at times I find them helping each other out as they all are learning how to navigate this remote learning world.
My Project
This computer will provide me with the much-needed tool to deliver rich interactive lessons for years to come. I currently have a Chromebook at home that was loaned to me by my school, but it does not have the needed power to help me deliver a rich interactive lesson to my students.
An upgraded computer will help me stream powerful interactive websites / animations to my students in order to help them visualize the science concepts being covered.
Ideally, I would like each of my students to have an updated reliable computer at home to interact with the lessons, but it is not cost-effective to ask for multiple computers. They currently have loaner Chromebooks from school that for the most part do a good job at browsing simple websites and completing their writing assignments but can't handle some of the demands interactive websites require. That is why I am asking for your assistance in helping me obtain a computer that would allow me to stream powerful animations through zoom conferences where my students can visualize the concepts at hand.
