It would be wonderful to have a computer in the classroom for my kindergarten students.
My thirty kindergarten students live in East Harlem, New York.
They reside in a low income, high poverty area. Some of them live in shelters. They are energetic and are beginning to learn how to read. They love playing in center areas and listening to big books.
My Project
I would like to have a computer in the classroom for the students and I to use. I would like the children to use reading and math software to practice skills. The students can practice letter sounds and play math games. This would be a great introduction to technology for them. I would use the computer to research lessons and educational sites.
Technology is prevalent in our world today.
As a teacher, I feel I need to expose my students to technology which they should be familiar with. Having a computer in the classroom would be a motivating, educational experience for my students. I think they deserve it.
