Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Welcome to my fourth grade classroom! I am a teacher in New York. I work in a high-needs community where many of the students find themselves bound. I am the teacher that is trying to help them break free.

With very limited resources, I often find myself trying out different strategies to make learning fun and interesting. As of right now, my students are having a problem finding interest in reading. It isn't that my students do not like to read! It is because reading is often seen as something that they are forced to do.

I am here to change that mentality. I want to create an environment where the students are able to relax and fall into a great book. I would like my library to be a comforting, child friendly area for my students. This is why I have come up with the idea of incorporating bean bags to the library. With bright colors and comfortability, it will draw my students into the library and provide a getaway from the many issues and problems the school community faces.

Won't you help the students in my class to win the getaway into the land of reading? With your help, the classroom library can become a place of fun and relaxation. A place for the students to step away from the tensions of school work and testing. You are able to make a difference in my classroom. Because of donors like you, you help to ensure my classroom success.
