A Comfy, Cushy, Cozy Place to Read...

My students need 3 little beanbag seats and 5 comfy pillows.

I teach in a crowded inner city school. My fourth graders generally live in turn-of-the century tenement apartment buildings, surrounded by concrete and blacktop. Traffic and crowded living conditions prevail in this area.

I try and make the classroom a place of respite and relaxation. I want to let my students experience the joy of reading in a tranquil place, away from all the negative distraction of the city outside (and at times in their crowded living space). I have a large fountain, and a really beautiful library area with a rug on the floor. It is the most popular area of the classroom. I want to make it perfect with some simple pillows and bean bags for seats.

This comfortable seating allows the students to remain reading for an extended period. It will make the library experience even more special, because they will be reading on a cushy pillow, or a bean bag chair.

Please help me give my students a taste of quiet and peaceful comfort. Help me continue to make my classroom a home... The kind of place they read about, a clean well-lighted cozy cushy place...
