Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Sixth grade is an essential year in my students’ time in middle school. They are growing into young people, and they are excited about the opportunities afforded to them as some of the newest members of the middle school community, but they are still young and eager to learn about all that they can.
My students are continuing their journey as readers and I want to make sure they are reading and learning in a space that they feel safe and comfortable in.
They are getting ready to explore the world and I want to give them every opportunity to do so, in life and in books.
My Project
As a teacher I strive to make my classroom as welcoming and comfortable as can be. This setting is essential for my students to be great learners. This seating and pillow options will create an environment where my students can comfortably become readers. I also want to make sure my classroom is colorfully decorated. The poster book will provide culturally relevant decorations that will support and inspire my student. By laminating the posters with the laminator, I can ensure that the decorations last longer in the classroom. I want to make sure the student are surrounded by posters and ideas that will help them become well-rounded students.
After a year at home, I want to make my classroom as inviting as can be.
I am trying to create a welcoming and safe environment in my classroom this year by giving my students comfortable options to curl up or stretch out with a book of their choosing. But also look around them and gain inspiration from the walls and windows of my room. Having a welcoming environment is key to making sure my students can learn.
