My school district is a Title I, 100% free and reduced lunch district. COVID-19 had a serious impact on the families we serve; several students did not have access to food, safe spaces, and social interactions. Our district has received several grants for technology, thus giving our students access to things they may not have otherwise. This is where the headphones will be used; my students are only four or five years old, so standard headphones do not fit properly. This creates distractions and prevents students from fully focusing on their activities. The play items will provide opportunities for students of multicultural backgrounds to share their cultures with other students. This creates a safe space to share with others and opens important conversations and learning moments for my students.
