This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My kiddos live in a high poverty area. My school is a Title I school. Everyday is a struggle for some, more than others. Giving them the opportunity to do hands-on center rotations lets our tactile learners excel.
Learning is fun when using colorful supplies.
Bright colored tag, markers, colors, and pencils lend an excitement to learning. Using other senses helps to differentiate for different types of learners. My goal for my classroom is to create a break from everyday bookwork and worksheets. When we do stations, they get so excited because we get to move around the room while learning.
My Project
The use of crayons, bright colored paper, and markers make learning beautiful and fun. Learning vocabulary is retained longer when students add a picture.
Adding color to any picture will reinforce learning.
Giving my students colorful options gives them ownership of their work. I believe that adding color to any work will improve learning and retention of that learning.
By providing these colorful school supplies, my students will have the ability to excel in all Core subjects. The use of colors, markers, and map pencils will enhance Science and Math projects as well as highlighting their stories in their writing journals.
