Imagine learning about the spectrum of light without a color printout.
As note-taking is a crucial skill for middle-schoolers to develop before secondary education, I print out templates for them which have important photographs and diagrams as reference.
Maybe it's the Lyman Series of hydrogen emissions, a colorized photograph of Helen Keller smelling a flower, or a map of earthquakes on the globe which corresponds to plate boundaries. I would like to purchase a color laser printer and toner packages to supply it this year and next.
This is a dizzying world of screens and apps and fast-paced attention-grabbing devices. I like to keep the embers of the analog glowing, with discussion, asking questions, hands-on activities, and reading and writing. I have to prove that these approaches are fulfilling and fascinating. Color print-outs may seem like a mundane and unimportant accent to engage students, but they actually light up the eyes of kids when they are handed out. I appreciate this all the more now that the school no longer leases a color copier. Please help me enrich my students' everyday learning with handouts of quality and interest.
