Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This year I am teaching AP Biology, Environmental Science, and 3 Co-Taught Biology classes. I teach these 3 courses with a Special Education Teacher so we can help meet the needs of our diverse students. My new classroom has very little cabinet and counter space.
My students need and would love a central lab equipment station where they can get all the supplies they need that is easily accessible and safe for everyone in the classroom.
The baker's rack is perfect for the new classroom that I have. The baker's rack will become home to lab equipment like hot plates, an incubator, beakers, graduated cylinders, and aprons to name a few. With all of my lab equipment in one organized zone, my students will no longer need to dig through crates and boxes of stuff searching for items that they need. This lab station of equipment will help my students stay organized while learning about denaturing enzymes, macromolecules, and dissections. The skinny shelves will fit on the counter to prop up my students' plant projects when they learn about photosynthesis. The larger shelves are for under a couple of the tables in my classroom so students can store their athletic bags and belongings without people tripping over them.
The 2 shelves with a drawer will be placed over our lab sinks. It will hold soap and towels so students can stay clean and healthy. Lab cleanliness is important. The bottle drying racks will be lined up against our wall so students are able to dry their lab equipment after cleaning and using them.
These items will really help make a difference to save space so the classroom is less cluttered and everyone has easy access to them.
