This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are exploring food, plant, and pollinator studies as part of their STEM and health curriculum. We already have the seed pods and an older system, but see a great benefit to having a separate system for herbs and flowers.
To deepen their grasp of plant growth and food sources, I intend to introduce a hydroponic system with flowers and herbs for hands-on learning.
This experience will enable them to observe plant life cycle differences between herbs, flowers and fruits as well as facilitate discussions on nutrition.
Ultimately, my goal is to ignite enthusiasm, encouraging the children to explore a variety of plants in our garden and possibly inspire them to initiate their own home gardens.
