Tucked away between public housing, private homes, a high school, and the subway sits a wonderful Title I school. The children in my class come from very diverse socioeconomic households which include everything from "traditional" family units to foster family homes to those who struggle with homelessness. We are a very diverse school with many different backgrounds in one. Many students come in not speaking any English and some parents require translators to communicate. This year my children have the option of learning at home and I am here to help!

As for my children, some have disabilities varying from physical and cognitive delays to children who receive an array of services. From the moment they walk into the classroom, it is transformed. They enter eager, full of the desire to learn the answers to a million burning questions, and have so many things to share. It is then that our classroom transforms into a curious, exciting, and warm place to be!
My Project
My children and I will soon enter another school year but sadly it will not be one that is typical- it will be another year of UNKNOWNS! I was hoping for this year to be a bit more normal and not one that seemed as if we were still in a different world. Either way we need these cleaning supplies because one thing is for sure germs are not for sharing!
A classroom is not only a place of learning but it is a home away from him where my children and I will grow, laugh and learn from one another for 6 hrs a day.
I always took pride in keeping our school home organized, neat and clean but now it is more important than ever to keep our school home free of excessive germs. Before Covid hit I would always wipe the desks down maybe with a baby wipe if disinfecting wipes weren't handy but now it is vitally important that we have the right tools necessary to keep our environment clean.
I am requesting disinfecting wipes, soap and masks to keep our classroom environment at its best so my children can be healthy while learning. I am also requesting items to keep our classroom bathroom smelling fresh and clean. Not only will I be teaching Reading, Writing, Math, Science, Social Studies and Art, but with these materials, I will also teach the importance of being clean and how to properly clean hands and personal belongings. Remember they may be MY students, but they are OUR future. Please consider helping me teach some valuable life long lessons.
