My third graders are some of the sweetest around. One of their most favorite parts of our day are when they get to read or listen to me read. And their reading tastes are just as varied as their personalities! Some love silly books. Some a good mystery. While others may reach for a fantasy or non-fiction every time. It doesn't seem to matter to them. They love to read and they love to share their reading with their friends.
My Project
As adults, we rarely have to sit in a hard desk chair all day long, and if we were forced to we wouldn't be happy about it. My students don't feel any differently. Currently, if they want to work around the room they have to sit or lay down on the floor with their clipboard. I would love to have a comfy futon and some floor desks so my kids could have some other seating options. It would get them off the dirty floor and get them a more comfortable place to read a book or work on an assignment.
