I teach at a Title I school in South Florida where many of our students come from low-income households. My population includes students who speak English as a second language, students with learning disabilities, students with gifted qualities, and those that are a combination of the three. One thing they all have in common is their desire to learn and be their best self. My goal as a teacher is to help them find their mathematical strengths and hone in on them as well as to help them develop the social/emotional skills needed to be a successful member of society.
My Project
We are returning to school this year under unusual circumstances. In order to help keep our students safe, we need to keep clean classrooms, hands, and atmospheres. My project can help our team do just that. Funding this project will supply our classrooms with hand soap, paper towels, disposable masks, and sanitizing wipes. Having an extra stock of these items will ensure our students will always been well taken care of.
Our students are our most precious commodity and this year will require extra care when it comes to cleanliness to help keep them protected from illness.
More than half of students from low‑income households
