My students need 10 more Kindles to complete our class set!

My Students
Many adults think that teenagers don't like to read. That's not the case. It's just that students like to choose their books instead of always being forced to read what their teacher assigns.
Two years ago, I launched The 1,000,000 Word Challenge at my school.
It was a huge success. Ninth graders read more than ever before -- an average of 15 books per student. (Test scores went up, too.)
But there was one problem: Some books got lost, others never came back, and a few got tattered in backpacks.
My Project
That's why last year, I began the Kindle Classroom Project. My goal is to acquire a class set of Kindles. We're up to 14 so far, with ten left to go.
The students -- especially boys and reluctant readers -- love the Kindles; there are many advantages (e.g., built-in dictionary, variable font size).
My favorite thing, though, is that my physical classroom library is a place where students can browse and shop for books. But all those books never get lost because nearly the entire library is mirrored on the Kindles.
I believe in the Kindle Classroom Project because I believe in reading.
I've been a teacher for a long time, and the students who like to read are the ones who do better in all their subjects. Thank you very much for helping on this project!
