This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
When you think about science, what comes to mind? For my students, it's hands on, technology based learning that they can relate to the real world! My students travel every day from different areas of Staten Island to attend a school that provides them with small class sizes to meet their individual needs. The majority of my students are reading and writing below grade level, but come to school with an enthusiasm to learn!
They are curious, creative and eager to grow as learners.
Creating a differentiated plan to meet all of their learning styles can be a challenge some days especially if there is a lot of reading and writing involved. I've noticed over the coarse of the school year that my students are far more engaged in the learning and produce higher quality work when technology is involved. Unfortunately, technology is not something that is readily available to them. My students deserve technology that enhances their education and promotes students involvement.
My Project
The use of technology is almost a daily activity in my students' lives, especially in the classroom. Being a skilled user of computers and printers will prepare my students for high school and career opportunities. Allowing my students to type essays, research papers, generate materials for STEM fair projects and create graphs and charts for investigations would save time wasted by always having to copy everything by hand.
The All-In-One classroom printer makes it easier to produce and display their work.
By donating to this project you would not only be increasing instructional time, you would be promoting the creation of quality work and ultimately improve their typing skills. You would be removing barriers for students with literacy difficulties, allowing them to access the curriculum in situations they would otherwise not be able to. Having a curriculum that is accessible to all of my students will make a drastic shift in their education and empower them to become the life long learners I know they are capable of being.
