My Students
I have a classroom of inquisitive and hardworking students. Despite the fact that they face challenges that most do not understand they still love learning. Several students have suffered tremendous loss but still persevere in a way many adults could not. They make me proud everyday.
My students are working on being critical thinkers and problem solvers.
They take on challenges through math, science and exposure to rigorous and meaningful text. Students in my class work to find solutions on a classroom level and are working to be world leaders and world changers!
My Project
As a newly designated STEM school I would like to push research and exposure to non-fiction text. Although I utilize our school supply of books it is limited and shared amongst many teachers.
I would love to maximize my student's expose to complex text and create more opportunities for my struggling readers to have books at their level.
Having books readily available in the classroom would encourage independent reading and hopefully create a love for books!
I would also like to have book talks, book reviews and encourage students share their experiences through their books. Having text at all levels gives all readers a voice that can help shape them as a speaker, reader, and thinker!
