Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are inquisitive and eager to be at school. They all work very hard when they come to art.
Most of my students may not become artists; but they will be the most creative engineers, doctors, entrepreneurs, teachers, and more, because they are all experimenting in solving planning challenges with their artwork.
Artistically, they're at very different levels, but they are always excited to learn about something new! At our school, we believe that demographics do not determine destiny and I work hard to ensure I'm living out that principle.
My Project
I would like to give my students the opportunity to read books about a wide and diverse group of people and topics. At times, I give students time to read about certain people or topics to get inspiration for their projects.
I want my students to be able to see their self represented in the books we read and in the stories of people who persevered to find their dreams.
I teach about artists from all over the world and introduce students to as many artists from a variety of backgrounds as possible while demonstrating how different artists were influenced by other artists and how some artists helped other artists get their beginnings. Many artists that were undervalued for too long were people of color.
