Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are a curious and talented group of kindergarteners. Most of the students receive a free or reduced-price lunch and come from low-income neighborhoods. I always try to make our classroom an oasis, a happy and peaceful place that fosters learning and exploration.
It is important for me to provide my students with all of the resources they might not have otherwise since school is often the stepping stone to break the cycle of poverty in families.
I am passionate about what I do and seeing my students learning and growing justifies all of the hard work that I do.
My Project
I am about to start the school year in a new state and in a new grade! After visiting my classroom for the first time, I saw a need for a classroom library, complete with fun and engaging books that students will want to read!
It is important to instill a love of reading from day one of school.
I want to encourage students to be life long readers who find joy in picking up a book. A big part of this is having quality books available that students will want to read!
I am asking for help in purchasing high interest books at a kindergarten level including collections by Mo Willems and Ezra Jack Keats. Thank you for your considerations!
