My Students

My students live in a world that is fast-paced and accelerating all the time. In a competitive school and community environment of high expectations and little free time, it can be difficult to motivate students to slow down and savor learning.

My students come from a supportive community of highly motivated learners.

They are good students, who strive for good grades and excellence in their extracurriculars. However, in a mostly homogenous community, they have little exposure to different world views and life experiences. I hope that a diverse classroom library can change that.

My Project

It's a challenge to keep students interested in reading with so many other priorities and distractions vying for their attention.

I am requesting earbuds and books for our classroom library.

My classroom library should have something for everyone.

I hope by selecting a diverse array of excellent middle grade and young adult fiction, every student in my class can find something to love, whether it's a graphic novel like Chunky or a historical thriller like Dreamland Burning.

One of my priorities as a teacher is to help my student become well-rounded. Access to diverse literature is a great way to do that - and it's just a bonus when the books are so FUN!
