This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are proud of their urban community but are faced with several obstacles both in and out of the classroom. Many of my students have very little opportunity for enriching life experiences. They enjoy being in a classroom, which provides them with a sense of structure, continuity, and safety.
My students thrive when challenged and are eager to succeed, but some do not have the means outside of school.
My students are wildly creative, inquisitive, and spontaneous. They like to move. They love to be immersed in enriching hands-on activities, and they crave positive reinforcement.
Many of my students are being raised in single-parent households and receive a free lunch based on their household income. From the moment they walk into my classroom, I try my best to showcase their incredible potential and highlight their positive attributes. I may not be able to control their home lives; however, I can certainly control their experiences during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hoping to inspire my learners to challenge themselves.
My Project
I am requesting a Cricut Air Explore 2 machine for our science lab. This incredible piece of technology will allow me and my mathematicians and scientists to design and create classroom hot spots like a living math word wall, a state standard showcase area, daily agenda headliners, and class section organizers, to name a few.
The Cricut Air Explore 2 will give me the precious gift of time!
Instead of spending tedious hours cutting out fragile letters for bulletin boards and walls, I can utilize this time to plan more hands-on activities and enriching learning experiences for my amazing kiddos.
