A Class without Books is Like a Room without Windows
My students need new high interest books for independent reading time.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We tend to take basic supplies for granted. It isn't until you no longer have access to those basic supplies that you realize how vital they are.
My students live in a high poverty area of New York City.
The class consists of general ed and special education students. They love to write, draw, and create. My students come from diverse cultures and economic backgrounds and don't always have access to the basic supplies they need. I want to create a learning environment that meets all of my students' needs.
My Project
We would like to update our classroom library with exciting books to motivate students to read. With limited budgets and resources our classroom library is outdated and uninviting. Fostering a love of reading is an important aspect of a child's education. I am requesting a variety of books for my students to read.
Many of the books on my list are from series that my students love, like Amulet, Dork Diaries and Dog Man.
My class has a variety of interests and these books will engage them in reading. With your help my students will have a much-needed resource that will make a lasting impact in their education.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
