Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our class is made up of a diverse group. We have various races and cultural ethnicities. There are also differences in economics backgrounds.

We are a class of various learning abilities.

From high achieving to those with special needs and those who are speakers of other languages. Besides American English, we have a growing population of Spanish speakers.

The students in our class are motivated and eager to learn. Although their current living conditions are not the best, due to the recent hurricane, the students of our school continue to advance academically and in their communities. With your help we will be well able to achieve our academic goals.

My Project

Our school is one of the two middle schools located in Sheldon ISD. Due to Hurricane Harvey, our school was greatly damaged.

In the wake of the devastation, many students and families were affected by the storm in some way.

Many families lost their homes, vehicles, and personal possessions including essentials and back to school items. Our classroom also experienced a major loss to our reading resources.

The books used in our class had to be thrown away due to exposure to contaminated waste. The books in our classroom were used for teacher lead reading, small group reading, and student personal reading pleasure. I would always keep a variety of titles on the shelves for those who "hate reading" or were reluctant to do so.

The items received will replace the those lost during Hurricane Harvey. These contributions will help bring some balance and normalcy for our students and classroom.
