it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Double Dutch by Sharon Draper focuses on the experience of middle school students in a city school like mine. The story includes students that struggle with reading, bullying, and other hardships. It is a book that will engage our students because the story and characters are relatable.
This book will improve student learning as it will expand student access to literature.
We plan to read this book as we close out the year. Our district provided us with a short informational text that isn't very engaging and will only last about two weeks. Having a second book for the final stretch of the year will give students something enjoyable to read as our year comes to a close.
