My classroom is full of interesting students. A few of them show a high level of confidence and an interest in learning, while the others are unsure and show little eagerness. They come from various backgrounds in which many of them lack intrinsic motivation and encouragement. However, they tend to put forth more effort when there is some kind of incentive attached. It would be absolutely wonderful to have ALL of them motivated to learn and feel good about what they can do.
My Project
By having these charms and letting students create their own key chain charms, students will be more eager to focus and try their best as they work through their iReady math and reading lesson, knowing that every passed lesson will get them another charm to add to their key chain. While working on their individualized learning path in iReady reading and math, students encounter problems that keep them from passing a lesson. Instead of them being reluctant to learn the skills they need to master the problems, they will be more enticed to learn the skill while I work with them individually so that they can pass the lesson and earn a charm.
