My Students
Our school is in the heart of Brooklyn, NY. It is a brand new school with a load of potential. The school includes students from pre-k to kindergarten, and it is a melting pot of children from all around the world. Our school is in a high-poverty area, and about ninety-five percent of the students in the school receive free lunch. There are fifteen, energetic, three and four-year-old children in my class but there are not a lot of funds to enrich these students' education because of the budget cuts. Although our families give us support, they can't always help out financially.
My Project
I am requesting a changing table that includes steps for my 3K classroom. Although most of my students are potty trained some are still wearing diapers or pull-ups. Last year my paraprofessional and I would change the students in the bathroom as they stood up. This was hard for everyone.
A changing table would mean no more heavy lifting!
The fold-down, self-retracting steps are available only when a teacher’s hand unlatches them and a teacher’s foot is on the floor-pad. The cleanable pan is padded for comfort. And there's plenty of room for storage behind the lockable doors of the solid hardwood cabinet.
