A Central Space for Learning

My Students

I am working with 2nd and 3rd grade diverse learners. We are returned to in person learning in August 2021. Due to the return to the classroom, many of my students are further behind academically. The community from which they come from are under resourced and having basic supplies is difficult. This is my first year of teaching. I am currently teaching in the Austin community in Chicago, IL.

My Project

By having a classroom rug, my class will be able to have a central location for learning. The use of this rug will allow for younger students to sit comfortably while we are reading a story or listening to me read. When a rug is in place, it will minimize distractions in the classroom.

A classroom is the special place for us to gather as a family.

Our class rug is where we have discussions, engage with each other, and learn from each other, while still be able to social distance.
