Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach a classroom of fifteen three-year-old students who are full of emotions, and at times, those feelings overwhelm them. There are times when they need a calm and comfortable place to regulate their emotions. The carpet will give them a visual place where they can go whenever they feel the need to be on their own. By supporting this project, you will be providing my students with a comfortable and supportive place where they can express their emotions and regulate them.
The carpet and the materials, thoughtfully chosen, will play a significant role in supporting my students' learning and regulating their emotions.
The carpet will provide a welcoming place where my students can gather for a quiet reflection of their emotions. These items will create a calm physical environment, which will be beneficial for our young learners who may, at times, struggle with transitions and emotions. Sitting in a defined place can reduce overstimulation and help students feel ready to engage.
Furthermore, sensory-friendly materials can support students' emotional well-being and academic growth. Both the carpet and the sensory materials will create a nurturing place where my students can manage their emotions effectively and concentrate on learning.
