My Students
I am a preschool teacher in a Title I school in Chesapeake, Virginia. I have eighteen, curious and excited students in my class. Our students are picked on a need basis and just flourish in our classroom that is rich in print, music and hands-on activities.
My students love anything that is interactive and hands-on.
It is so important, at the beginning of the year, the room looks warm and inviting. We work so hard to make our classroom comfortable and welcoming to each and every child.
I strive to find activities and experiences that hook each child and give them exposure to academics needed for kindergarten. My students love working in small groups and love when we have new materials in the classroom.
My Project
I am asking for some new calming items to help some of my challenging kiddos this year. I have a difficult group and I am trying so many new techniques and strategies. I am hoping that with new music, a sound machine, and some new sensory and incentive toys I may be able to achieve a new calm in my room.
I will use the new toys for the children to work for during the day.
If they earn their rewards they will receive a break from the normal work to play with their desired new toys. I will also use the new sensory balls and weighted lap blanket to help some of my students that need that extra sensory break. I will use the new CD's and white noise at nap time to help achieve the calmness in the room needed for the children to rest.
The new cleaning supplies will help keep my teaching assistant and me healthy as well as our students! I would love to be able to spray down all of the toys each day to cut down on germs.
