A Calm Mind Today Keeps the Chaos Away

Help me give my students Help my students explore mindfulness and mental wellness through a student-led project designed to promote focus, reduce stress, and build lifelong coping skills.

My Project

This project will empower students to lead a community service initiative focused on mental health and wellness. Students will design and maintain a “Take What You Need” wellness station that provides free, accessible self-care tools to anyone on campus who needs support. This station will be available to all students, not just our classroom, making it a schoolwide resource that fosters a more compassionate and emotionally supportive environment.

Students will take ownership of the entire initiative—from brainstorming what items to include, to designing the layout, creating signage, and restocking the station regularly.

They will also promote the station through announcements and advisory presentations, encouraging peers to use it and normalize asking for help. This builds leadership and advocacy skills, while also creating a strong sense of purpose through community service.

Our school serves a diverse student body, many of whom are dealing with high levels of stress, anxiety, or personal challenges. The broader school community will benefit from this initiative by having a safe, welcoming space where students can grab items like coloring books, markers, anxiety rings, fidget tools, and affirmation stickers—small but meaningful supports that help students regulate emotions, reduce stress, and improve focus.

This project is more than just supplies—it’s about students stepping up to care for their community. By leading this community service effort, they are learning that small acts of kindness can have a lasting impact.
