My Project
During COVID-19 many of our students did not have access to books or other literature. Families came to school to borrow books to share together at home and more books were sent home to assist with daily learning. Most of these books were either not returned or returned broken and missing pages. Our classroom libraries are bare! They need more love and more bookd! By creating a classroom library I am hoping to ignite an interest and love of reading back in the school setting through physical books to improve motivation and students' reading habits. All of the books selected have been chosen with the interest and reading level of our second graders in mind. Students will be able to choose books from the library to read in class and to take home to read with their families if they wish. The animal erasers and mochi squish toys will be used as small motivational rewards for students who read and return our books in good condition. All of the books will be properly labeled and stored with the colored dot stickers and labels from the label maker on the bookshelf. This project will help enhance our school-wide goal of creating independent readers during our class time together.
