A Book is a Dream That You Hold in Your Hand

My students need books about liquids and solids to have access to reading material that ties in with their science units. Also books of their favorite authors!

My Students

Holding a book in your hands is not the same as reading them on a tablet or computer. Children need to have access to books and be able to learn to research with real books. They also need to connect with their favorite authors!

My students are respectful to their peers and adults; they are hard workers, and they have huge hearts.

They are eager to learn new content and love to play games with their peers. 40% percent of students are on free or reduce lunch. Every student deserves a chance to be able to have materials like these in their classroom.

My Project

Students will use the science books as part of research, and learning how to read a non-fiction text while connecting with their science unit. My students need books about liquids and solids to have access to reading material that ties in with their science units. These books will also be used for read aloud and shared readings. The fiction texts will be used for student enjoyment and be part of their good pick books. These books are student's favorite authors. All of the books will be displayed in the classroom and students will be given opportunity to use them during their Daily 5 activities.

These books will enhance students knowledge and they will be able to explore new concepts within these books.

They will also be able to read more difficult books so they can feel challenged in the classroom. It will also build a library that can be used for many years down the road. By donating books to children you are not only enhancing the students knowledge but also allowing them to use their imagination!
