My Students

My students are incredible little people. They are each unique and bring such a different perspective that I cherish to our classroom. They come in each day eager and ready to learn. They inspire me to be better. I tell them from the very beginning we are a family of learners!

I teach in a Title I school.

Over 50% of our students receive free or reduced rate lunch. I want my students to feel loved and cared for when they come to school.

My Project

At our Title 1 school students are often not exposed to quality literature. These books will allow me to do something in my classroom called a Book Tasting. Students will sample each of these books and decide which ones appeal to them. Then, as a group we will read the books the students have chosen. It will be a great way for students to be able to choose from a variety of rich literature. Allowing a child to choose a book is powerful and it gives the student a sense of ownership of their own learning. I can't wait to hold our first ever Book Tasting complete with checkered tablecloths, placemats, battery operated candles and menus of our books!
