My Project

The second grade students at my school are always hungry to practice their reading skills. With summer coming up, their teachers are looking for a way to ensure their success in the new school year

Reading over the summer is not just a fun way to pass the time, it can be a factor that can determine success in the beginning months of the new school year.

The "summer slide" is a real phenomenon that affects most students over the summer. If a student does not continue their momentum from the last school year over the summer vacation, they can loose up to three months of learning entering the next grade level.

The Book a Week Summer Reading Program can help maintain reading fluency and comprehension skills as well as make the transition into a new grade level smooth and easy.
