This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Second grade is such an incredible time for young minds! My students are improving their literacy skills and expanding their minds. Unfortunately, most of my students live in poverty so school is the place for books.

My students are an exciting and diverse group of kids.

Some are immigrants, some are living with extended family members or foster families due to difficult circumstances, and nearly all are living in poverty. That doesn't stop them from being excited learners who are starting to become independent readers, writers, and thinkers.

My Project

Do you remember your favorite books growing up? I do. Caps For Sale and If I Ran the Circus were two that really had an impact on me, and I read them over and over. I want my students to have the opportunity to find their own favorites by exposing them to a large variety of well written books. There is nothing like watching a child call over a friend to share a favorite book.

Even a small donation can go a long way toward helping my students learn to love literacy and expand their limited vocabularies and world views. My little scholars and I appreciate your support, and look forward to writing you thank you notes with reviews of our favorite new books.
