My Project

Teaching first grade has been amazing this year! I have watched as my students have built their literacy skills, and become confident readers in the classroom! We have been working incredibly hard on mastering reading concepts to be able to read more books in our classroom, and my students are excited to show me how much they can now read when they check books out from the library.

Something I am working on is building my classroom library, so students do not have to wait to look at books when they attend library each week.

That is the reason for my project.

I am seeking support with supplying my students books they can use to practice their reading and comprehension skills in class! The books I have listed in this project have different reading levels available to support all students in my classroom. One of the book sets listed are for Gerald and Piggie books. These books are great for younger readers because they have words students can sound out, and simple sight words students have been learning about in class. Other books that are listed in my project are "There was an Old Lady who Swallowed a Fly" which will help teach my students sequence, a rhyming book that teaches students about homes and habitats, and fiction books that teach perspective about how a pet dog and a pet cat view having children as owners in their lives. I have chosen these specific books because I also want my students to enjoy the books we are reading in class, and books they will look forward to reading more during the school year! The last item on my project is for a book organizer. This will be used to store the books in the room!
