My Students
My school is located in the Engelwood community of Chicago, Illinois. I have never worked at a school with such a positive vibe from both students and staff. Although my students regularly face difficult situations, you would never know this from their attitude. They are just great kids that live in the neighborhood! We service one of Chicago's largest homeless shelters and we try to add as much pleasure into our students lives as possible. If you visited out school during the day, you would see fun loving, hard working individuals that have a deep love for reading!
My Project
Please help my students create a safe and comfortable area to enjoy the one thing most of us love...escaping to a new world! My students LOVE LOVE LOVE to read! Unfortunately, they only have hard wooden tables to sit at. Some try to curl up on the floor but it's unsafe so they are forced to read with their head facing straight down staring at a hard surface. Please help me provide a comfy couch and chair to lounge back and escape to a fantasy land- even if only for a short time! Your contribution will allow my students to drift into a peaceful oasis!
