My students need more than a bookshelf filled with Science supplies. They need a table with chairs where they can explore and discover.

My Students
Right now our classroom Science Center is just a bookshelf with some science supplies and books. It would be great if the students had a place where they can really explore what we are learning in science.
My school is in East Flatbush in the heart of Brooklyn, NY.
The students in the school create a West Indies melting pot. Our school includes over 1,500 students from pre-k to eighth grade. It is a Title I school which means many of the families are living below the poverty line and about 95% of the students in the school receive free school lunch. There are 18 energetic and eager three and four year old children in my class.
My Project
The table and chairs I am requesting are for our Science and Discovery Center. Right now this center isn't much of a center at all since it is just a shelf. Pre-Kindergarteners learn through play and most of science is exploration at any age. Having a table and chairs will provide a space for my students to explore where they don't have to worry about cleaning up before meals. The table has built in magnets, a magnify glass and a bin for exploration that may get messy. It is a perfect addition to our Science Center.
Whether we are learning about pumpkins or magnets my students need a space for exploration.
I am trying to prepare my students for the rigorous Kindergarten Common Core Standards. And enriching my science curriculum is one way to do this.
